FCAT Biology Follow Up

  1. I feel the workshop was very relevant to my subject area. Biology is a natural science concerned with the study of life and living organisms, including their structure, function, growth, origin, evolution, distribution, and taxonomy. In my subject area of Earth Science we study some studies of life and living organisms. We also study the origin and evolution of Earth. This is definitely something I can model in my classroom. I can tailor these plans to any lesson in the book; I can consider it as something new to my curriculum. I would be very interested in a similar workshop that discusses other strategies to better help the student in the content area because I know writing can be difficult and time consuming for many students. It a complex job and by having a similar workshop we can learn the right tools to use. After participating in this workshop I incorporated in my lesson plans some strategies that are deliberate and focus on thinking about writing such as book reports.

  2. This workshop was extremely helpful. It helped me understand better ways of teaching my students and helping them succeed while taking the FCAT. It provided different forms of strategies and resources while teaching Biology as a whole, and in particular some of its branches for instance Life Processes and how Biology is related with physical science particularly Chemistry and other sciences when we study the most important biochemical molecules and their transformations in living processes through metabolic reactions.

  3. This workshop was very relevant and important to me. It allowed me to better understand biological concepts and then teach them to my students inevitably helping them succeed on the Science FCAT. In addition, the workshop provided different strategies and identified various resources in Life Sciences. The workshop showed how Biology is inter-related with the physical and earth/space sciences.
